Hole 9
Tee Approach
Playing Tips
The 9th hole is proudly sponsored by Fishermans Pier.
At just 245m from the back plates this ‘sporty’ Par 4 presents the prospect of birdie or better to end an enjoyable round, especially for the longer hitters.
Carrying the green however has its risks and running through to the hollow behind or bunker to the right will require a precise recovery shot to a downhill pin location.
Players wanting to protect a score would be well advised to play a 200m to 220m shot to the right side of the fairway.
This small terrace 10 m to 20 m short of the green provides a view to most of the putting surface and a fairly level stance from which a well-played lob shot should provide a good birdie chance to finish.
Suggested Path
Playing from an elevated tee across a valley to a fairway landing zone at a similar elevation requires a 220m shot to clear a grass hollow on the left edge of the fairway and no more than 235m to avoid reaching the bunker on the outside of this slight dog.
Tip 1
Carrying the green has its risks and running through to the hollow behind or bunker.
Tip 2
For a safe shot, play a 200m to 220m shot to the right side of the fairway.
Tip 3
Realistically through any shots finding the fairway up to 100m out will be well suited to a “bump and run” type approach shot.
